Helen Tatla is Full Professor of Architectural Theory and Design at the Department of Interior Architecture, Faculty of Applied Arts and Culture, University of West Attica, Athens, Greece. She is currently Head of the Department and Director of the Scientific Lab “Space, Aesthetics and Sustainability”. She teaches at the Undergraduate Programme of Studies “History of Architecture”, ‘Philosophy and Aesthetics” and “Interior Architecture”. At the Postgraduate Programme ‘Sustainable Design of Architectural Space”, she teaches “Philosophy of the Environment and Design Principles”, “Critical Investigation of Aesthetic and Design Theories” and “Methodology of Scientific Research”. She has also taught for many years philosophy of art and architecture at the Postgraduate Program of Studies “Research in Architecture: Design – Space – Culture” of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens.

Helen Tatla graduated from the Faculty of Architectural Engineering of the Technical University of Athens in 1983 and took her Ph. D. degree at the Edinburgh University, Department of Architecture, in 1990. Her publications, lectures and research interests focus on the philosophical, historical and political consideration of art and architecture, in relation to the design of interior and exterior spaces.

General Secretary and Member of the Administrative Board of the Hellenic Society of Aesthetics and member of the Administrative Board of the Greek Philosophical Society.
